Picture update

Jump rope montage begins. Boondoong.

Jonyi getting some serious air

Again

And again. Love this girl!

Learning how to cook nyangkatango with Fatou

Rama (hiding from the camera), Mariama, and Ida, part of our surrogate host family

Got Rama to look

Look at me, I'm cooking like a Gambian!

Toma, everyone's favorite Gambian grandma

Spontaneous dance parties are normal here

Jacob introduced a new jump roping technique, rocking Jonyi's world

Our compound flooded during a long intense rainstorm. Surveying the damage. Note the collapsed fence around the garden in the background. Now we're even happier than before that we set up our interior fence!

Drowned scorpian. Interestingly, this large black kind are NOT the kind that make grown men cry like babies...those are the much smaller and less scary-looking tan ones.

With my foot for scale. These things are big!

Drowned chicks :-( Eight chicks drowned in our compound alone!

Someone asked why we never post pictures of the local food bowls. They aren't super exciting, but here is an example of a typical dinner. White rice with palm oil sauce and a little dried fish.

Our latest home improvement - a roof extension that will allow us to sleep outside in the cool fresh air even when it rains overnight (which it's doing more and more these days). Very exciting stuff.
